We have been busy getting ready for full color works. After studying values in black and grey, we moved on to color wheels, value charts and finally full color drawings! The kids were thrilled to study the landscape. We discussed foreground, middle ground and background, then we drew them with colored pencils. All this is prepping us for painting next Spring.

WOW! we logged in about 350 visitors for the Studio Tour this weekend. That is amazing. I had a wonderful time meeting all of the art appreciators and artists that ventured out on that blustery weekend. Thank you to everyone for coming out and seeing what we’ve been up to. I am already planning for next year…insulating the mill is top priority!

This week’s lesson included drawing a still life from our new benches and practicing good composition, simple shapes, correct proportions, and using a 3 value scale. The results speak for themselves! Great job everyone!
