****Please Note****

This is not a portrait class. Due to the complexity of drawing and
difference in techniques students will not work on portraiture in this
class.

You will paint from your own images. Landscape, architectural, floral, animal
etc.

*Day one*: The morning will consist of getting our brushes wet, loosening
up and exploring different techniques to use with watercolor.

Molly will demonstrate and assist students with these exercises. She will
have various options for techniques available for students to use.

The afternoon will be spent on preparing our thoughts and images for a
large piece.

Discussion with the class regarding composition, value structure and
correct drawing will take place.

Students will move at their own pace to prepare their piece of work. All
works will be ready for paint by day two.

*Day two and three:* Molly will demonstrate how she begins a painting with
layering thin washes.

She will explain her thought process and color/value choices.

After a few layers, students will begin on their pieces with Molly's
guidance.

When the time is appropriate, Molly will demonstrate her next level of
painting on her piece. The class will continue this way through day 3,
letting students watch, learn and apply at

their own pace.

Mail a *non-refundable* deposit of $150.00 to reserve your spot.

Class size is limited. Balance due on or before first day.

Supply list sent at registration.

Invitation to Exhibit a great honor

Molly Johnson has again been invited to have a painting in the Transparent Watercolor Society of America Exhibition. This year the show is at The Kenosha Public Museum, Kenosha, Wisconsin. Out of 785 entries, only 80 artist’s pieces were selected. The TWSA is highly regarded as one of the top Watercolor societies for their strict regulations regarding transparent watercolor only.

New Illustrated Book to arrive late June

10272729_10202036949741395_2134817695960755517_o

I am very excited to have had the opportunity to illustrate in watercolor a book on Wisconsin’s rock Island. There are 17 of my watercolors making up the book.

Author Sandy Johnson has written a historical poem with children in mind, but it is enjoyable for all ages. The book will be available in Late June, here is Sandy’s website for updates and ordering information.
